Amadeus Prison of Magic

The schools of Amat and Deus has lived in toil for years.

In the school of Amat they played with magic of the central elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Sun and Moon. They consider themselves the servants of the elements and exist to keep the balance of them, and because of such while they have an affiliation with one element they can perform the spells of the others with counterweights.

Meanwhile in the school of Deus they consider themselves the rulers of the elements and as such they’ve divided them into many. They exist to bend the elements to their will and use it to further their goals in the world. Unlike the school of Amat, they bind themselves to the magic which they are affiliated with, preventing the use of any other spell or magic with or without counterweights.

After a normal school day in which they went to sleep in a normal fashion, they awaken in a bare room. Trapped in a unfamiliar place where they are unable to leave and are guarded by wardens. They have to explore and find out what’s the cause of this situation and if both sides can get along to get through this situation.

Day One - Prison of Amadeus

Each child in the schools belonging to Amat or Deus woke up to a chill in the air. They would awaken to find themselves laying on a bed with a thin blanket covering them. Their clothes they had worn to sleep had been replaced by a white t-shirt and a pair of white shirts, perfectly tailored to their form. Their belongings nowhere to be found in the room. Instead the room was composed of a locked green door in a room with white firebricks and stone floor. It was cold and no windows could be seen. There was another door on the opposite wall of the green door, this one was red. If it were to be opened they’d find a single outfit, a pair of white jogging pants, a gray t-shirt and black jacket that were all unisex and each was their perfect size. The area behind the door was composed of shelves, 7 of them. All of them were empty except for the top shelf where the clothes were and a few other things. A small, bristled brush with a plastic blue handle sat next to the clothes. A red cup with a white rim was next to the brush, in it a white toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste, a bar of soap wrapped in brown paper and a small bottle of lotion. Fresh-Scented. If they were to try for the green door, they would find it locked. No matter how much they yanked and pulled it would not give. The beds which they slept or the floor itself was stained blue in in small areas, each stain no much bigger than a droplet of water.

The cold began to die down as a warmer tone took on the room. Suddenly the click of a door could be heard in the in the rooms, coming in the direction of the green door. They swung open wide automatically, and the captives could see many other rooms swinging open. The entire hall was lined with small rooms, each one nearly the same. All empty, all had the same clothes and items, all had the red and green doors and all had some drops of blue somewhere in their room. Some was more noticeable than most, others were near impossible to notice.

“Everyone line up on the yellow line,” a voice boomed from the speakers above the doors to the rooms. “Straight and single file.” A yellow line which ran down the hall seemed to pulse and glow on the floor. The doors to their rooms swung shut if they were empty, if the students were still lingering in their rooms, the temperature rose to an unbearable heat, even the pyromancers or fire elementals couldn’t survive or stand. Some kids tried their powers once more, but to no avail. They were completely stripped or perhaps blocked. “Follow the yellow line to the dining area.” The voice boomed once more.

Inside the dining area was something similar to a school cafeteria. However, the place you would get food was closed and chairs lined the area up and down, facing a podium in the front of the room. “Please, take a seat. Someone will be here to speak with you.”

“What’s this?”

“What’s going on?”

“Probably some weird emergency training thing again.”

“I don’t know…”

Tired, disconsolate voices could be heard amongst the crowd of students. Some looked confused, and others seemed to be dismissing the events as some kind of drill. Marc recognised some of their faces, though they weren’t his usual dorm mates -and this certainly was not his dorm nor the normal dining area.

Marc folded his arms on his new clothes, taking a seat next to the person who had been in front of him in the line. He didn’t try asking what was happening, as it seemed quite obvious that no one had the answer. Again, he briefly spotted some of his friends in the crowd, and then another face that particularly caught his attention. César? Marc didn’t have time to catch his eye as César took a seat at the opposite side of the room. Well, he probably wasn’t going anywhere. Marc turned to the person sitting next to him.

"Excuse me, do you ‘ave ze time on yourself?’ he asked with a small smile.

I woke up this morning feeling chills all over me. I was so cold I thought there wasn’t a blanket on me and I blindly reached for it, but the moment I couldn’t feel it I opened my eyes to notice the blanket was covering me from shoulder to toe but was thinner than a feather. I shivered as I wrapped it around myself and stood up. I noticed a few blue stains but decided not to do anything about it. I noticed waking up in a strange room and I needed to get out of it. I sighed and went for the red door after careful consideration. I noticed a few outfits and was relieved at the sight of them. I dropped my blanket on the floor and I put the outfit on and finished it with the jacket that was also there. As I was finishing putting my clothes on I walked out of the closet room back into the bedroom and noticed the greed door was opened. I resisted walking out not knowing what was waiting for me there but I was outlawed by a decision to go and find out what this place is exactly. I noticed a yellow line and was told to follow it, as I did. To my surprise, we were being taken to what looked like a cafeteria and after I arrived I followed the order to sit down. At this point my head was filled with questions and all of them needed answering. However I was interupted, thankfully, by a boy who asked for the time. It was a silly think to ask for considering the situation, so I answered a bit hatefully. “We’ve all been stripped of our worthly possesions. If I had a clock before I sure don’t have it now to answer your question. Why do you need to know the time anyway?”

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude,’ Marc replied. In stressful situations, some people found casualness reassuring, and others hated it. Apparently, the boy in question was one of the latter. “I was just 'oping someone was still 'aving… well, something.” He shook his head, smiling politely. “I suppose zat is not ze case.”

He turned his attention back to the podium at the front, though nothing seemed to have changed much, if not for the room that was gradually becoming more crowded. Extending a hand out slightly, Marc attempted to levitate the empty chair in front of him, just to check. And for the first time in his life, he felt nothing.

“It’s not just our possessions,” he said calmly. “Our affiliations are not 'aving any effect either.” Feeling more awake, he noticed that the other boy, like everyone around, looked preoccupied with what was possibly a gazillion questions filling his head. “Hey,” he said gently, keeping in mind that there was a chance he could rile him up again. “There is no way we can know what zis is about yet, so don’t be giving yourself a 'eadache.”

As the man continued talking about facts I already knew I decided to listen to him even thought I didn’t really want to, and multitask by focusing myself on other things, noticing people around to try and remeber which one of them I knew, but I was interupted by him adressing me specifically with a loud Hey. I looked at him, a bit surprised he’d still be talking as he said There is no way we can know what zis is about yet, so don’t be giving yourself a 'eadache. and I looked at him understanging now that he’s never met me before. I know he thinks he’s helping with saying that, but he really isn’t. This conversation would go a lot better if he were talking to any normal person, but not me. “I don’t get headaches.” Which was factually correct, I’ve never had a headache to date, never a propper one that would hurt enough to be complained about. “And I don’t understand why you let yourself be stressed out by your own thoughts. Especially when you’re about to be fed and don’t have anything to worry about yet.”

He felt a cold chill running down his spine. He opened his eyes immediately. His whole body still frozen on the bed, his arm hanging from one side.
It took him a few seconds to realize that it wasn’t his room and after that he got up glancing here and there to figure out what was going on.
Almost instinctively he snapped his fingers, it was like a reflex. The Shadows would have known something, they were always following him, but in that moment something felt weird, it was almost like he had lost his powers, he snapped his fingers again… nothing.
A wave of shock invaded his mind, what if they did something to him? He always wanted to be normal but now that he was feeling “that” he changed his mind.
After inspecting the room and changing into something way more nice than that plain pijama, he tried opening the green door.
Blocked. “Great, just great. I can’t even leave this place. Isn’t it already enough to take away my power?” He let out a sigh as he sat back on that excuse of a bed.
He cupped his head between his hands, reality hitting on him hard: he had been kidnapped and his powers vanished…
As the door slammed open he checked out the exterior “I’m not the only one…
Following the instructions he arrived to a big room and sat on one of the numerous chairs that were all facing an empty stage.
All around him there were other students, there was a strange silence interrupted just by some comments, questions and panicked voices.

César had chosen a seat at the front of the large room. He looked around with a glum expression on his face, clutching the collar of the grey t-shirt and lifting it to cover his neck as if it were a muffler. Except it wasn’t, and the chances of César warming up anytime soon seemed bleak.

He turned his head as an older Deus student took a seat next to him, noticing that he looked familiar, though he was too preoccupied to think much of it. “Zis is not a vairy funny joke,” he said, frowning at the clothes they shared with all the other students. “I theenk zat we would all like getting our things back now.”

He looked contemptuously at one of the speakers from which the deafening voice seemed to have come. As he did so, his eyes came across two familiar blue ones -Marc. “Amat students are here too,” he scoffed, and this time the statement was properly directed at the boy sitting next to him. “Now zis is vairy funny.”

“In zat case I will try not to give you ze first one,” Mark said with a small laugh. It was becoming evident that the other boy didn’t wish to speak much. “But I do theenk zat ze 'ole problem with stress is zat sometimes you do not control it.”

Especially in an inherently coercive environment. Marc looked around again -and this time, he met César’s gaze, though only for a brief second. “What is your name, zen?” he asked the boy sitting next to him. “You don’t strike me as a Deus student, but I don’t theenk I’ve seen you in ze school before?”

As he was checking out the whole place, the guy sit next to him started talking.
He glanced at him without turning towards him. He tilted slightly his head still looking at the stage with a disinterested look.
“This is not a joke” he answered calmly.
He checked his hands and snapped his fingers… nothing, no sign of magic.
“If this was a joke I think we’d be able to use our elements, wouldn’t we?”
He turned towards the guy, a younger boy of his school, probably he saw him before but couldn’t recall it.
“How do you know, it’s not just our school?”
His voice still calm as ever, getting angry or anxious was pointless “we’re stuck here anyway” he thought while fixing his gaze on the blue eyes in front of him.

Raising a brow at the other student -who had very dark eyes, now that César noticed, which looked nice- César slightly raised his collar to his neck again. “My brozzer,” he replied. “Marc. An Amat student.” He gestured towards Marc with a minute movement of the head.

César then flicked his hand gracefully, as if to verify what the other student had said. He felt nothing. “Zat can’t be,” he frowned. “Evidently zey are mocking us-”

He turned to look at the other students, with more attention this time, and noticed the bewildered look on their faces. “Oh,” he burst out, tightening the grip on his collar. “Well, you 'ave been around for a while, 'aven’t you?” he asked the older student. “'As zis 'appened before?”

As the guy mentioned his brother he turned slightly towards the direction pointed by the almost imperceptible movement that his companion made.
“Twins ah?”
As he turned he noticed that the boy was holding onto his collar “Is it freezing here? I didn’t notice it”
He thought while removing his jacket.
“If you’re so cold, take my jacket, I don’t really need it”
He let it down onto the other’s lap.
“As zis 'appened before?”
An intense look took its place on Jack’s face. Never in his whole life he felt so powerless and empty, all his belongings and his powers were gone, nothing left but some items that he couldn’t care less about.
His lips curved into an almost inexistent grin as he let out a sigh and while tilting his head upwards he said “I’ve never lived without my dark friends” he mumbled in a low tone.
“and I’ve never heard about something like this happening, moreover between these two schools”
He took a deep breath “I wonder what’s going on”

Location: The Cafeteria

Irys woke up feeling very uncomfortable and very hot. ‘What…?’ she got up from her bed and stretched her arms, eyes still closed. Damn, it was really hot. She rubbed her neck which was very sweaty. She mumbled something to herself and was about to remove her shirt.

“Follow the yellow line to the dining area.” a voice yelled and interrupted her.

She opened her eyes and found herself in an unfamiliar room. All the people looking at her as she was half-naked. “Ah!” she screamed and quickly covered herself with the blanket. Where was she? What happened? She last remembered being in her room, re-reading her favourite book.

The voice yelled again and she quickly got up and put on the shirt that she had removed. She looked around for the ‘yellow line’ that kept getting mentioned and found it down the hall. Irys ran and followed the line which led to - what seemed like a cafeteria.

She searched for an empty seat and hoped that she didn’t have to sit with someone else. She was always a wallflower and didn’t like socialising. Not to mention how awkward and nervous she would be around people. Oh, there was a vacant seat! As she walked there, two other guys and sat next to each other. Great. Just great!

She started sweating a lot and wanted to sit somewhere else. Irys looked around again and all the chairs were occupied. ‘You know what? Screw it!’ she thought and got up. She hit her leg to the table and fell flat on her face. Oh god, this was so embarrassing! Everyone’s attention was now on her. Irys’ face was bright red; she was almost on the verge of crying.

As he was talking with the still unknown guy, a loud noise echoed in the room and all the students attention was pointed into one direction.
A girl was laying on the floor after a probably epic fall, “Poor girl, not really the best of the beginnings in this f#cked up situation” he thought while staring at her.
Some started to laugh while others whispering and spreading useless rumors.
He deeply despised annoying people that couldn’t mind their own business.
“No, don’t do it, Jack please don’t get tangled up with troubles…you cause already enough yourself” he thought while fighting the urge to help that student.
“Ugh…”
He stood up and walked towards the girl and while leaning slightly towards her, he offered his hand to help her up.
After doing so, he straightened up and while looking around he said “What are you looking at, idioten?!”
Even if he didn’t want to, german always came out when he was pissed.
But then he sat again, waiting for the Deus student’s answer.

“I meant getting stressed by your own thoughts. That you always control and can change your thoughts when you see they’re deviating into unwanted territory.” I answered back but didn’t continue talking about stress and willpower any longer, I allowed him to change the subject. To be honest, I wanted to see what else he would bring up in this conversation and he didn’t seem stupid, not when he made the point he just made because that indicates he can think for himself. I smiled as he asked for my name because I find it amusing how I was about to enter a preferrably long conversation with a person I didn’t even know and didnt’ even think to ask who he was before I did so. “I’m Eric Barnes.” I noticed a strong french accent in his tone so I said “A pretty boring name which can easily be overshadowed by a french name.” This way I prompted him to answer back with his name withouth making it awkward and directly asking his name after he just asked mine so it wouldn’t seem like I’m only aksing his name because he asked mine.

“Thank you,” César said politely, staring up at the room with an apprehensive look on his face. “I don’t like talking much about my brozzer, but yes, we are twins.” Wearing a second jacket was impractical, so César wrapped it around his neck instead. “Do not look at me, now. Zis is an 'ideous style zey gave us.” He turned back to look at the other’s dark eyes, which, again, looked very nice, though César hardly ever showed appreciation -and was not about to.

“About ze dark friends you mentioned-”

He was interrupted a loud thump, followed by an equally loud crash. César looked to the side with disdain, and saw a Irys Amberwoods sprawled out on the floor. She was wide-eyed, shifting glances all around the room as if she didn’t know what to do, visibly red with embarrassment.

César, who was still clutching the jacket around his neck, gave what was unmistakably a derisive laugh. “She’s always like zis,” he said contemptuously as Jack did his best to help her. “Was zat German of Dutch?”

“Do you know her?” Jack asked with a questioning look in his dark green eyes.
Before going to help her he overheard the half question that the guy was asking him but he was unsure if the guy sit next to him wanted to let it go or keep asking him.
He looked at the girl and then at the other boy,
“Anyway, I’m Jack, Jack Traum and yeah that was German”.
His father was German, the classic stereotypical blond with blue eyes German guy, but obviously he took none of those traits, quite the opposite actually.
Dark black hair with green eyes…
“And you two are?” He asked shifting his gaze between the two other students

“It’s a nice name, though,” Marc said with a genuine smile. “And you could find it in France. I’m Marc. My family name is a bit impossible to pronounce, I theenk. It’s okay if you want to skip it.”

They were shortly interrupted by a crashing sound at the other end of the room, caused by a girl who seemed to have slipped next to César. She didn’t seem injured in any way, which was reassuring. It didn’t look like anyone was there to treat injuries at the moment. The Deus lot around her broke into a laugh, and Marc shot his brother a tired gaze.

“I’m sorry,” he said, turning his attention back to Eric. “I was wondering, are you a Spirit Amat?” Marc asked, casually but politely.

She looked away from the others and hid her face in her hands. “What are you looking at, idioten?!” someone spoke. Irys looked up to see a guy with dark, black hair and bright green eyes (wait, does he have green eyes?). She grabbed his hand and got back up. “Thanks,” she whispered.

He turned towards César who was standing behind the guy, laughing scornfully. Ugh, what a j€rk. Irys knew him from school. Well… you could say they didn’t like each other. He never missed a chance to humiliate or make fun of her.

“And you two are?” the kind guy asked. “Irys…” she said in a low and soft voice, rubbing her arm. “N-nice to meet you… Jack,”

In a whisper the girl told her name, Irys.
“Likewise” he said slowly and with a gentle look that didn’t give away any apparent emotion though.
“You should be more careful next time, if you don’t want the whole school to notice you because of this”
A playful smirk curved slightly his lips while he stared down at his hands, cold and weird in that emptiness that surrounded them
