How Much Would You Pay for A Course on Writing Interactive Stories?

If I were to build it, and take you from beginning to end with writing stories, how much would you be willing to pay for 10+ hours of content?

maybeee $15 - $25

my thing though is you’ll have steep competition on prices, i’ve paid $13 for a 26 hour course on udemy (which may be a platform too look into for your course) although udemy relies heavily on video

and no the sale never ends, at least not if you’re a new user
it’ll say one day left then reset to like 2 weeks more

Ahh that’s actually not too bad! I hope I can offer more than the courses, if I do a little research. I looked into Udemy, but with the course fee that they take, it works out cheaper to host a course on my own website!

My idea is this: sell the course with downloadable worksheets to get people through story writing. Then, sell the worksheets on their own on my Ko-Fi shop!

I’m sure you can and I haven’t seen a course on writing interactie stories so maybe with a little advertising and word of mouth it could take off especially with episode and dorian :star_struck: aww, that sucks ):

That’s a great idea!

I hope so! If I were to sell it at about £10 ($13-$14), it might be a nice bit of extra money for me. Although the time it would take to make the course might mean I’d have to charge a little more!

Tbh it wouldn’t really interest me personally because I’ve been able to teach myself how to do Episode and know a bit about it/how to do it. But working with an editor or someone to like go through each of the scenes and working with me on actually finishing a story (not like a partner, like an editor or someone I pay to help me) might interest someone like me. I don’t think I’d pay for it now because I don’t have a job/am not making my own money but maybe in the future.
But that’s just me personally. I think that a lot of people on Epi would be interested in this but idk where the price would be.

I get that! I’m hopeful that people would be willing to pay a little, because Joseph Evans managed to get loads of people to sign up for his Patreon! I know he’s famous and I’m not, but I guess courses are evergreen! If I have it up there, maybe over time it can make me a couple hundred?

There is a lot of stuff out there on how to direct a good Episode story, so I absolutely want to post a course on how to write a good interactive story (Dorian and Tales and stuff included. I don’t wanna specialise the course on Episode for obvious reasons :stuck_out_tongue:). From a narrative point of view: choosing good characters, making good choices, etc. There would be a strong emphasis on how you can take advantage of monetisation!

If it helps I have seen people on Epi asking people to code for them. Someone even offered me money to code for them… so your thing definitely isn’t off the table!

I’m interested!
$15 dollars sounds like a good price for a course.
Would it be an interactive course where we can ask questions in real time and get feedback on our stories, choices, and directing?

I would pay 25-50 dollars depending on how much it goes over. I would up the price if it has more than I thought in it.

Also, I would definitely take the course.

In terms of feedback, I don’t think I’d have the time to offer it! However, the course would give you the opportunity to ask questions! Plus, you’d have access to a group where you could chat and share ideas with other learners!

Also, you can follow my progress in making the course topics here:

Then you can let me know what you’d pay for a course that offers the stuff I’m offering!

Remember that it is a work in progress and there are new topics added every 2 mins! :stuck_out_tongue:

To be honest, I don’t know… It would depend on how much new information I could gain from it, because your blog posts have already taught me enough to write decent interactive stories (I should probably promote your blog on my insta once I have more followers) :eyes:
I’m also a broke student, so I probably wouldn’t be able to pay for it anyways :broken_heart:

I get that! In terms of a comparison between my blog posts and my courses, I would go further in depth in my courses and provide worksheets, etc. Plus, step-by-step guides and more quizzes!
