The Twilight Saga

Hey there! So like, Twilight was the very first book I read and it was the book that made me fall in love with books.

But then, Twilight is now one of the very few books that I absolutely don’t like. And I am so not the only one. There are plenty of people who feel the same.

You see so much hate towards Twilight that I want to understand why so much hate? Why is it so bad?

Or do you like it? Why do you like it, if so? Why not?

This is not a Twilight appreciation thread. It’s more of a Twilight discussion thread so feel free to express your discontent to your heart’s satisfaction!

Also, please do not be rude to anyone. Criticize ideas, not people.

Okay I don’t like it mainly because I dislike the way the vampires are portrayed. I also think it’s pretty overrated and I don’t enjoy romance even if there is some fantasy in there, I feel like the story is romance with a fantasy subplot and tbh it makes me wanna puke :joy:.

I know somebody who dislikes it simply because she’s part of the Harry Potter fandom, I guess she fails to see you can like more than one thing.

In general I just feel like it has a weak plot but I guess it’s just not my thing. So if you like it then that’s awesome.

The hatred for Twilight is waaaaay overblown. It’s nowhere near as bad as the Michael Bay Transformers films, but the reaction to that was just ‘meh’.

But that’s because it’s teenage girls who made it big, and people really hate teenage girls for some reason. It’s not good, by any stretch, but it’s not 50 Shades of Grey levels of atrocious

That’s exactly why I don’t like it now.

Well, that and the fact that Edward Cullen is hella creepy. :joy:

That’s true. Idk why things teenage girls like are usually the ones bashed most. Like must you hate everything they like?

Yeah by far it’s not the worst thing ever created infact it was my old English teachers favourite thing :joy: some people do just like to bash on things that teenage girls are into but if somebody were to come up to me telling me how much they love it I wouldn’t be rude to them or anything, it’s just not my thing.

I enjoyed the books, but hated the desperation that came with Bella/Edward. She annoyed me a bit more in the books than movies  This is my #1 hate
The books weren’t as funny as the movies so that took away some realism  And I didn’t like that she didn’t befriend the humans.
The vamp lore is a bit corny. Diamond skin?! cringe on cringe Guess I like a bit more of the old school vamp lore lol.
My favorite parts were wolf scenes and the backstories of the Cullen family. I love history so reading these little snippets of their lives throughout different time periods was interesting.
The Volturi scenes were fun and added some mystery/suspense
I did really enjoy Alice’s devotion/love to her family and Bella. She just feels like the most encouraging and solid friend you could have.
*I think the crazy hate comes from the overwhelming mania that started when the movies came out (people judging the fans for it) and it trickled to them shi**ing on the books as well  At least this is what I witnesseed when the Twilight Mania truly began

Could anybody else imagine twilight done with traditional vampire lore?

I, myself, am strange and unusual.

Possibly? The day walking would remind me of vampire diaries though. So would there be witches? Or just stakes to the heart?

Hmmm I’d say stakes to the heart

What’s the method they use to kill them in twilight? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, was it beheading?

Beheading, then burning the body I think.

That’s effort :joy:

So true. Like how adult men were sending Justin Bieber death threats. He’s not the best artist in the world, but he’s talented. So why did he get all the hate? Because teenage girls liked him

Yes! I’d be an exhausted vampire. Too much work :joy:Immortality not worth it!

:joy: I think it’s something like they can come alive if not burned on time? Which I find kinda stupid. Maybe if they’d showed what happened if they didn’t burn a vampire’s body, I’d be able to understand why burning is important.

Right now, it just feels unnecessary.
